So, did the NYT insert a Swastika into a recent Crossword Puzzle?
I copied this from a Twitter thread; certainly the Tweet suggests the NYT knew what it was doing.
Shocking to me were various threads that attacked people for even thinking this could be a Swastika! And it appeared on the day before the evening of the minor Jewish holiday of Hanukkah - a coincidence? Puzzles sometimes use stock background “themes,” for want of a better word, but this should never be used. May I remind readers that between 40 to 50 million HUMAN BEINGS of all backgrounds died in WWII after the Nazis invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. I’d also remind admirers of Vladimir Putin and Joseph Stalin that it was Stalin and the Soviet Union that signed a non-aggression pact with Nazi Germany shortly before the war with a secret clause to carve up Poland after the war would be launched, i.e., complete deceit by both the Nazis and Russia-dominated Soviet Union. I mention Russia now because people sympathetic to Putin and Russia might want to learn from history and see who are the real Fascists in the war between Ukraine and Russia (not that the Ukrainians are angels, nor are we in the West).
